Yes, 1956 was the year of its creation and 60 years on, one of the most iconic design of the 20th century is back as an anniversary edition.
Not too much difference. The veneered plywood frame, padded interior and wide seat are still here of course, as well as the lovely curved armrests.
The difference with this limited edition is Vitra’s use of a soft dark Twill fabric, which is ‘high in natural fibres’, as well as ‘tactile and inviting’, which adds a cosiness much needed for this time of year.
The base has a black polished finish and each chair comes with a ’60 years in production’ certification plaque. Orders can be placed now, with the chair available until the end of January or until stock runs out. £4,890 is the price.
