Time capsule for sale: 1960s midcentury property in Ware, Hertfordshire
Well, it seems like the ‘time capsules’ were the big winners from this year’s WowHaus Top 50, so we expect this one to prove pretty popular too. Specifically that’s the 1960s midcentury property in Ware, Hertfordshire you see here.
At first we thought it might have been ‘staged’ as a retro property, but when you take a closer look you see those tounches are likely to beg authentic, a result of someone living in this place for a long time and maintaining it to a high standard. Congratulations to the owners / sellers on that one.
According to the agent, this was specifically designed by an architect and in an area where houses rarely come up for sale, with a cul-de-sac location and some excellent countryside views.
The shape of the house is typical of the 1960s and once inside, you’ll see plenty more from that decade too. An open tread staircase, wood clad walls, a large living room with vaulted, wood-panelled ceiling, large windows and a wonderful ‘of its era’ kitchen for example. If you want a house that screams the 1960s, this should be one to view.
The agent points out that it needs some updating, but adds, quite rightly, that it has ‘much charm’. You would hope that charm doesn’t disappear with a heavy update.
Anyway, if you do like it, you’ll want to know about space. This house has a large entrance hall, that impressive lounge with vaulted ceiling, the period kitchen, a dining room and cloakroom on the ground floor with four bedrooms and a family bathroom on the first floor.
A large plot, plenty of front garden, a driveway, double garage and large rear gardens. If all of that appeals. the asking price is £680,000.
