On the market: 1980s Japanese-style single-storey property in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
This is an unusual one, but we really love this 1980s Japanese-style single-storey property in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, which was spotted by Charlotte Lund-Lack.
According to the agent, this is a unique, detached house, built by the current owners around 30 years ago and set back around 200 feet from the road. As you can see, everything is spread out over a single floor, with plenty of glazing to bring in the light and plenty of open space for flexible living. But you rally can’t avoid that Japanese influence, which also has the effect of making this look pretty timeless too. With the possible exception of the external paint job, this house really could date from point in the last 40 or so years.
As for that layout, the entrance to the property leads in to the central dining/family area, which also opens to the kitchen, all of which is glazed to one side and with sold wood flooring. That leads to a dual-aspect sitting room with open fireplace and study area.
In another direction is the bedroom wing, with four bedrooms overlooking the gardens, including a large master bedroom and three-piece en-suite shower room. There is also a family bathroom here too. Outside space is the large garden (around a quarter of an acre), along with space to create off-road parking if you need it.
Fancy living here? Offers around £800,000 if you do.
