I’m a fan of this retailer generally, but this retro kitchen collection by La Redoute x Formica really is special.

Why? Well, look at it. There aren’t many standalone units for a retro kitchen around, and this one, with its midcentury modern inspiration, really does catch the eye.

As you might have guessed, this is a collaboration, with a mini range going by the Quillan name put together to celebrate the 110th anniversary of Formica.

It mixes some lovely midcentury modern design in light oak with a very ‘on trend’ (I know I shouldn’t use that phrase) retro green finish via Formica. The end result is what you see above and below. Stylish, eye-catching and versatile design for your kitchen.

It’s also a range for all sizes of kitchens. You might not have room for the larger units, but you might be able to squeeze in a bistro table and chairs. I know I can – that’s already on my wish list.

Talking of the range, you can take your pick from a large island unit, a very cool retro sideboard/storage unit, that bistro table I mentioned, and an extendable table. There are chairs that match the range, too, plus some stools that work with the island unit (although lacking the colour).

It’s not ‘designer’ priced, but it isn’t cheap either. It sits somewhere in the middle. La Redoute regularly throws out discount codes on its site, so it is worth checking for one of those. But I can’t see one just now.

So it is full price. This means £875 for the extendable table, the same price for the island unit, £1,550 for the sideboard, £599 for the bistro table, and £375 for a pair of chairs. It’s a limited collection, so don’t expect it to be around forever. Here’s hoping for more of this kind of thing.
