On the market: 1970s Norman Brooks-designed modernist property in Canvey Island, Essex
Thanks to Stefi Orazi for pointing out this 1970s Norman Brooks-designed modernist property in Canvey Island, Essex, which is something of a time capsule.
If the name rings a bell it could be because of this wonderful property which sold back in 2013. The one here lacks some of the ‘wow factor’ of that one, but it is definitely cut from the same cloth (like a number of others by the architect in the area) – and is much cheaper too.
If you love the 1970s, this place might well appeal on that level. Some updates over the years, but very few judging by the photos. The kitchen looks pretty much as it always was, the exposed brick and timbered ceilings are present, the open tread staircase is still in place, as are a number of period fixtures, fittings and furnishings.
Take out the possessions of the current owner, look at the blank canvas and you’ll see something rather special.
A decent amount of living space too. Three bedrooms, two of which are dual aspect, a living room that’s also dual aspect, a separate dining room and utility, the period kitchen and a bathroom plus ground floor WC.
A good amount of garden too with trees and shrubs, as well as some off-road parking and a 22ft integral garage.
The agent points to opportunities to expand, but if you like the house as it is, offers over £295,000 are invited.
