Something new. In fact it doesn’t get much newer than this Hilltop House contemporary modernist property in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey.

Just completed, the house is quite an eye-catching piece of domestic architecture, a design all about light and space. Just a shame we don’t know the name or names of the people behind it. If you do, please let us know.

Obviously the key design feature is the upstairs space, with the large and framed angular windows with floor to ceiling glazing. Not that the downstairs space is short of glazing. It’s just that the upstairs throws in a little more of the ‘wow’ factor.

In comparison, the interior doesn’t quite match up. There’s nothing wrong with it. Far from it. The open spaces on offer here are pretty much what we would hope and expect. But the finish just seems a little plain compared to the outside. Nothing that a splash of colour and some bold furnishings couldn’t put right.

On the plus side, the bedrooms with the reverse of all that glazing certainly tick the boxes.

A lot of space overall too. Head in and you will find a ‘generous’ hall with drawing room and study, as well as a kitchen / dining / family room that runs across the whole of the back of the house with doors to the garden. Also on this floor is a ‘good size’ utility room.

Head up the stylish staircase and you’ll encounter the master suite on the first floor, which has full length views across the garden, as well as a dressing room and full en-suite bathroom. There are two additional ‘suites’ up here too, along with two more bedrooms which share a bathroom.

Outside is a ‘large’ landscaped garden with a rainwater harvesting system to the rear, with the front offering off street parking behind remote control gates.
