In need of renovation: 1960s nuclear bunker in Whittlesey, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
Ok, it’s never going to be anyone’s dream home, but if this is the kind of thing you dream about, then this 1960s nuclear bunker in Whittlesey, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire is probably priced to your liking.
Yes, a nuclear bunker. Not as substantial as the one in Perthshire we featured some time back though, this one is a much smaller unit, built in the early 1960s.
According to the agent, the bunker is ‘partly submerged underground’ and ‘situated on a generous plot’, with a secure steel hatch and ladder leading down into some open plan space, with added storage which is believed to have been a food store cupboard.
The main room also has electricity connected and ‘original fittings’, although there aren’t details of just what those fittings are. You’ll have to book yourself a viewing to find out the real detail here.
The bunker is to be found in a secure fenced location and on what’s described as ‘a generous plot’. I’m sure there are plenty of interesting uses for this outside its original purpose and with a guide price of £15,000, it is priced to attract people who fancy a niche project.
The auction for this takes place on Thursday 4th June 2015 at Barnham Broom Golf & Country Club at 11:30am. Images and details courtesy of William H Brown estate agents. For more details and to make enquiries, please visit their website.
