On the market: Remodelled 1960s modernist Wrap House in Godalming, Surrey
Ok, saying it is the 1960s modernist Wrap House in Godalming, Surrey is perhaps only half a tale. That’s because this place has been recently ‘entirely remodelled’ by the renowned architect Jake Edgley of Edgley Design.
So a 20th century house with a distinctly modern-day slant. It’s also a house that covers around 5,000 sq. ft. of internal space and sits in something like 2.5 acres of gardens. So a lot for your money. Although saying that, this definitely isn’t a place that comes cheap.
But it does come with a ‘wow’ factor, courtesy of Jake Edgley, who has maintained the original and distinctive shape of the house, but adding a layer of insulation, then wrapping it in stainless steel, winning an award for his efforts with the renovation too.
Inside is perhaps what you might expect – clean, modern and every bit as high end as it should be. Space is over a single level, with the front door leading into a large entrance hall, then onto the kitchen and a reception room with full height glazing, which overlooks those extensive gardens. There’s also a ‘long’ bedroom wing with seven bedrooms (four of which are en-suite) and a family bathroom. The master bedroom also has a dressing room, and a freestanding bath in the en-suite bathroom plus more of that floor to ceiling glazing. Finishing things off is a second reception room (or further bedroom) with a bathroom.
Outside space isn’t in short supply, both in terms of gardens and parking space. You also get your own tennis court and a garage block.
Fancy it? You’ll need to find £2,850,000.
