Looking for a design bargain or two? You need to be at the Vitra Sample Sale, which heads to London this month.
It is pretty much what it says it is – a chance to get some great deals on past and present design classics from the Vitra archive. And as you probably know, there are so many of those, not least when it comes to Charles and Ray Eames. Not that I know what will be there – that’s said in hope more than expectation.
It takes place at the Bargehouse, Oxo Tower, Bargehouse Street, South Bank, London, SE1 9PH on 13th July 2019 and runs from 9am to 5pm. Now I’m not an insider on this, but I think it’s safe to assume that the best deals will be there for those getting there nearer 9am. In fact, if you really want your pick, you might want to be in the queue before that too.
According to Vitra, you will have the chance to purchase original Vitra products at a special price; for one day only, with discounts of up to 60 per cent and prices starting from £25 for accessories and £99 for furniture.
Note that all furniture and accessories on sale have already been used in showrooms, at exhibitions and on photo shoots. But even allowing for that, this could be the opportunity to get something really special for your home at a fraction of the original price. And no one will know it has been used unless you tell them.
There are a few rules in place though. Those are…
First come, first served.
Delivery can be arranged at the point of purchase. Delivery is compulsory for large items such as sofas, dining tables and lounge chairs, so maybe budget that in.
There are no refunds or exchanges. This is very much ‘sold as seen’.
Finally, there are no product reservations or previews. You just have to queue, get in and lay claim to what you want.
