Plenty of style and no shortage of luxury with this modernist house in Tewin, near Welwyn, Hertfordshire.

A lot of kerb appeal, that’s for sure, no matter which way you look at it. Personally, I prefer the glazed side, with walls of glass offering great views of the garden and plenty of natural light.

But you might like the flipside of this house, with the frontage clad in black to almost hide the house amongst the woodland. Quite a contrast, but one that really does work.

Talking of the setting, you’ll find this award-winning house on what’s described as the ‘prestigious’ Firs Walk. I don’t know the area, but according to the agent, it is made up of ‘substantial detached homes’ set back from the road and within a woodland setting for a ‘rural feel’.

The house itself was built by the present owners and as you would expect from a modern-day, premium build. An open-plan layout, double-height living space, a clean white finish with black detailing, high-end fixtures and a rather cool floating staircase and walkway.
