It needs work, but this 1960s modernist property in Longton, Lancashire might be a fairly easy project for someone.
Not much detail about its past available sadly. The house is down as being architect designed and dating back to the 1960s. Beyond that, nothing really. But we do get plenty of images of this one, which looks to be in some kind of semi-renovated state. Some of the rooms look to have been updated recently, other spaces don’t seem to have been touched much since the 1960s.
The latter is particular appealing, as some of the finishes, such as the wood clad ceilings and exposed brick walls are still in place. That kitchen looks to have survived some years too.
The agent says ‘some modernisation’ is required and that is the case, as the design really needs bringing together. If you are keeping the ’60s look and feel, much of the era is still in place. Things just need tidying up / finishing off and a fresh eye is needed for the interior design as far as I can see.
As for the layout, you are greeted by the what’s described as the ‘dining hallway’ with open staircase to the first floor, which in turn leads to the ‘spacious’ kitchen / diner and onto the workshop area and utility room.
The reception room on this floor has sliding doors to the garden room and in turn to the garden. There is also access to the second reception room with a multi fuel burner and a wall of glass incorporating patio doors overlooking the rear garden. Beyond that are two ground floor bedrooms and a family bathroom.
The first floor has two double bedrooms, one with en-suite and dressing room. There looks to be some kind of terrace from one of the bedrooms as well.
Outside is a fully enclosed and private south facing rear garden with lawn, plants and patio areas, with the front offering a car port and more space for cars.
If you don’t know where Longton is, well it is just outside Preston, which is handy for lots of thing, not least trains pretty much everywhere. As for the price, this one is up for £420,000.
