1960s time capsule in Guildford, Surrey
Thanks to both Guy and Nolan for letting me know about this 1960s time capsule in Guildford, Surrey.
On the market for the first time in 50 years, it is quite something on at least two fronts. First off, the views. The elevated location offers amazing panoramic views over the town and towards the London skyline, with a house designed to make the most of them.
Oh yes, the house. Let’s just say not a great deal has changed over the decades. Yes, a couple of updates here and there and obviously a well maintained property. But the key features of this one remain intact.
So take in and enjoy all that glazing, the open plan living room with wood ceilings and period fireplace, a dining area surrounded by glass, an oh-so-retro kitchen, some exposed brick and an external spiral staircase.
Let’s be honest, some parts of this one will need an update. But there’s no much to love here if you are a fan of the 1960s. Some well thought out tweaks and it could be retro heaven. Saying that, there agent is pitching this as a ‘thorough renovation throughout’ or ‘rebuild with the necessary consents’, so its days as a monument to the 1960s might be numbered.
In terms of the space on offer here, the house has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a couple of reception room and of course, the kitchen.
The outside is worth talking about too, as you get a garden, a patio / terrace area, outbuildings and even your own swimming pool. Private parking as well at the other side of the building.
The location undoubtedly pushes the cost up for this one, which has has a guide price of £899,950.
