Time capsule for sale: 1970s modernist property in Peebles in the Scottish borders
The second of our Scottish double header is this 1970s modernist property in Peebles in the Scottish borders.
Described as an ‘individually designed detached split-level bungalow’, it is also down as being ‘in need of some modernisation’, which is pretty evident from the images here.
It is pure 1970s in the main, not least with the living room, which is still complete with period curtains, whicker chair and overhead lamp. The light fittings and ceiling looks original to the 1970s too.
Elsewhere the 1970s theme continues, with little change to the bedrooms, kitchen and one of the bathrooms. Strangely, the main bathroom looks to be the only room that has moved on from that decade.
Even if you love the era, this might need some work. I’m not sure stone cladding is quite for everyone for a start. But it is an interesting property, one that sits in an elevated position that offers great views and in ‘one of the most sought after locations in Peebles’.
As for space, you get a hallway, living room, two bedrooms, the kitchen, a wet room, separate cloakroom and access to a balcony area. Outside is the garden and the garage.
If you want to take this place on, offers over £250,000 are invited.
