Manchester Modern book by Richard Brook and Vaseem Bhatti
How does the idea of some northern modernism grab you? If it does, you might want to support the production of the Manchester Modern book by Richard Brook and Vaseem Bhatti.
It’s a crowdfunded project, with the aim of producing the book in the first quarter of 2017. Early support is strong, so we suspect it might well make its target.
If / when it does get published, it will be a volume featuring 111 buildings of the 20th and early 21st century. It is described as a ‘field guide, small enough to fit in your pocket, but weighty enough to know its merit’, with a design by noted artist Vaseem Bhatti.
It is also a book some 20 years in the making and with extensive research undertaken on each building. In addition to that, the book itself will be a premium affair, with options depending on how much you commit.
£25 gets you the basic cardboard finish, £32 for PVC, £111 for (would you believe) concrete and finally £300 for the worryingly-titled Flesh. That’s just meeting the author in the flesh, as well as a book, a tour and some additional treats.
Lots more detail at the Indiegogo site as well as those options to commit.
