In need of renovation: Single storey art deco-style property in Jaywick, Essex
Thanks to Christopher, who has spotted this potential project for someone, a single storey art deco-style property in Jaywick, Essex.
Presumably a 1930s build, it still has its distinctive shape and its roof terrace intact. But inside it’s a different story.
Yes, there are some original features here, including (we think) those glass sliding doors and other internal doors. But other decades have also left their mark here too, not least the 1970s.
It probably needs stripping out, keeping what you can find from the original period and scrapping much of the rest. Not a job for the faint-hearted obviously and with the area not exactly being affluent (perhaps something of an understatement), it might have to be a labour of love rather than a long term investment. But price is on its side.
The house has some sea views and looks to be near to the beach. It also has more space than you might imagine.
An entrance porch leads to a lounge and sitting room (separated by those sliding doors), an inner hall with access to the roof terrace, a kitchen, three bedrooms and a bathroom with separate WC.
Outside you get a corner plot with a driveway to a detached garage and under the house is a ‘large useful’ basement.
If you want to take it on, the agent is looking for offers around the £160,000 mark.
