On the market: Louise Bastable-designed modernist property in Weybridge, Surrey
If I ever need to create additional space on a single-storey property, I’ll be using this Louise Bastable-designed modernist property in Weybridge, Surrey as a template.
It looks like a recently-built property and I guess it is. But really, this is a rather clever extension and rework of an existing house from 2014.
According to the agent, this place was designed by architect Louise Bastable in collaboration with the current owner, adapting a single-storey building by ’cleverly’ adding additional space above.
The result is pretty stunning. This is a very stylish contemporary living space, which is far more open and bright than the frontage might suggest.
Not that there is anything wrong with the exterior. On the contrary, we do love the black brick and larch cladding, punctuated with the splash of yellow that comes courtesy of the front door.
As things stand inside, the ground floor offers a large, light open plan kitchen / dining room / reception area, which is boosted by full-height glazed sliding doors with anodised aluminium frames that open onto the garden. Oak parquet flooring throughout too, as well as underfloor heating on this floor.
Two more reception rooms on this floor, along with that first floor, which houses four double bedrooms including a master suite with en suite bathroom and dressing area, as well as a family bathroom.
Outside is a landscaped garden, a mix of lawn and plants plus some bespoke industrial-style decking. There is also a summerhouse in the garden and a separate office building at the front of the property, which is ideal if you can work from home. Space for a number of cars at the front too.
There is planning permission in place to extend the ground floor to the side, which might boost your investment further. Talking of investments, this one will cost you around £1,200,000.
