On the market: Apartment in the grade II-listed Lauderdale Tower on the Barbican Estate, London EC2Y

It seems that living in this particular part of the Barbican no longer comes cheap. Although to be fair, I don’t think it has for some time. Anyway, if you have the money, there is an apartment in the grade II-listed Lauderdale Tower on the Barbican Estate, London EC2Y on the market right now.

As you probably know, the Barbican Estate is the an iconic piece of architecture and the work of Chamberlin, Powell and Bon. The 41-storey Lauderdale Tower was completed back in 1974 and with the rise in popular of brutalism in the past few years, its standing has perhaps never been higher.

This particular space is a west-facing, three-bedroom apartment on the third floor and one that has been ‘completely refurbished’ of late to what the agent describes as an ‘exceptionally high standard’.

Of course, the kitchen is a very contemporary affair, with the bathroom and shower room also refitted. Outside of that, everything is clean and modern, with white walls, solid wooden flooring, underfloor heating and spotlights. Generally referred to as a blank canvas I think.

In terms of the layout, this apartment offers three ‘good sized’ bedrooms with the master bedroom having additional storage built in. The main reception space and the balcony area finish things off.

Worth mentioning is the 24-hour concierge and the fact that the residents enjoy full access to the private gardens. But note that there is a service charge for those added extras.

£1,550,000 is the asking price.
