On the market: 1960s Eric Lyons-designed Span House in Byfleet, near Weybridge, Surrey
If you are hunting for a Span there are a few on the market right now, including this 1960s Eric Lyons-designed Span House in Byfleet, near Weybridge, Surrey.
This one is just outside Weybridge on the Weymede estate, which was constructed between 1963 and 1966. The site itself has around 141 houses on the 15-acre site, which is located close to a river and of course, has plenty of open communal space. There’s also woodland on the edge of the site, which is also available to access only by Weymede residents.
It’s a two-storey property recently ‘refurbished and remodelled’, but still pretty faithful to the original design. If you want original features though, perhaps to look elsewhere, as the refurb has pretty much taken out anything original to the 1960s.
If that’s not an issue, this place has a large open plan living / dining room, a kitchen located off it, plus three bedrooms and a bathroom.
Outside is a private garden at the back which has been landscaped by the current owner, who is apparently a landscape architect and garden historian. There is also a nearby garage that comes with the house.
£355,000 is the price and if you have the time this weekend, there is a viewing day on Saturday 7th November.
