In need of renovation: 1930s art deco-style property in Elmer, West Sussex
Fancy a bit of DIY? You could bring this 1930s art deco-style property in Elmer, West Sussex up to scratch in your spare time. Big thanks to Nick for flagging it up.
It’s an interesting place, which is, by and large, still faithful to its original design. As for period features, well we can’t see enough of the inside to make a judgement call on that. We suspect that there might be a few lurking here and there – you’ll have to view to find out for sure. But it does look like renovations over the years might have stripped out a lot of the 1930s.
Saying that, the shell is a good one and looks ready to go if you want to create your own modern-day, deco-style property. Decent amount of garden outside too.
As for inside, an entrance hall leads into a sitting room, which opens into the dining room and kitchen with larder and ‘some original cupboards’. There’s also a small breakfast or potential utility room, ground floor WC and access to the single garage.
Head upstairs and you’ll find three bedrooms and a family bathroom. From the top of the stairs a glazed door offers access to the flat roof of the garage, while the master bedroom has a door onto the curved balcony.
As for that outside space, there is a garden and drive to the front, as well as the garage we mentioned and the good-sized rear garden.
If you want to take on this project, the asking price is £325,000.
