In need of renovation: 1930s art deco property in Wollaton Vale, Nottingham
Huge thanks to Nicholas for letting us know about this 1930s art deco property in Wollaton Vale, Nottingham, which is definitely in need of some work.
According to Nicholas, it is known as the ‘pink house’ and was part of a group of similarly-styled properties in this sought after area. Sadly, this is the only one surviving in near-original condition.
That originality comes with a downside. As you can see from the inside shots, this house looks to have had little or no work for some time and as such, there might be investment needed beyond the asking price. But there’s another more significant issue for the house here.
The house sits on a good-sized plot in an area of value. The agent does mention that this would be ‘ideal for re development’ subject toe necessary consents. Obviously that could mean this house is on borrowed time unless someone can be found to buy it and renovate it in the meantime.
If that’s you, then you will be interested to know exactly what you get for your outlay. That distinctive 1930s look for a start and a house with hallways, lounge, dining room, kitchen, outer hall and WC on the ground floor.
Head upstairs and you’ll find a landing, three bedrooms, a bathroom and another WC. One of those bedrooms also has French doors leading to the roof terrace. There might be further access to the roof terrace externally too, but check with the agent or on a viewing.
As we said, generous outside space which includes a single garage, driveway and front lawn and the long rear garden, which backs onto Tottle Brook.
If this is the project for you, then you will need around £300,000 to secure it.

This property has now been destroyed and turned into yet another architecturally worthless pitched roof house. The new property looks dreadful! Just like any other mass produced house. Wollaton is now a lesser place 🙁
