I know, we featured a place in this area only yesterday. But while I was researching that I spotted this amazing 1970s modernist property in West Lake Hills, Texas, USA, which I really had to feature.
We don’t have an architect’s name, just that it was the work of ‘a protege of Frank Lloyd Wright’ who designed this futuristic place back in 1978. Has it changed? Well, yes and no.
It doesn’t look to have been sold in the intervening years and looking around, there is so much here that looks original to the property. No surprise there, as it would be almost impossible to change features such as the dome ceiling, the staircases and the wonderful fireplaces.
But looking around, this place has definitely been updated in the recent past, with the finishes looking more contemporary than you would perhaps expect at first glance, not least with the kitchen. Nothing too out of character though.
Anyway, back to the design, which the agent describes as ‘living Sculpture’, as well as ‘a true sanctuary for those seeking solitude’. Open spaces, extensive glazing and a ceiling that could only come out of the 1970s. All of which squeezes snugly into the landscape around it, overlooking that wonderful pool.
The space of 2,506 sq. ft. includes three bedrooms (the master includes an exercise area) and two bathrooms, as well as an updated kitchen, the vaulted family and dining room and a study / office. The outside space includes the pool, a greenhouse, pond and extra gated parking.
$1,900,000 is the asking price.
