Galberg & Weal modernist townhouse in Beckenham, Kent
Love the renovation of this 1970s Galberg & Weal-designed modernist townhouse in Beckenham, Kent.
Described as a ‘classic Mid Century Modern townhouse’ by the agent, it dates from around 1970 and has been ‘carefully refurbished’ by its current designer owner. You’ll find it on a quiet residential road and as part of a row of eight houses – believed to have been show houses for the surrounding small development.
We do like the refurbishment too. Nothing too radical, most in keeping with the original 1970 design and taking full advantange of the extensive glazing in the property. Talking of glazing, this is an end property, which means there’s a little extra glass to play with here, which obviously means more brightness.
A good amount do space packed in too, with five bedrooms (one with en suite shower room), a kitchen / dining room, living room and workshop arranged across six split levels. There is also an off street parking space at the front of the house and a private south-facing garden to the rear. If you need more outside space, there is a good amount of communal gardens shared between sixteen properties.
If you like the mix of modern and retro, this could be for you. The house is on the market for £675,000.
