On the market: Six-bedroom contemporary modernist house in Thurgarton, Nottinghamshire
We thought this was older than it is, but as far as we mow, this place is a six-bedroom contemporary modernist house in Thurgarton, Nottinghamshire.
It’s fairly new anyway, last selling in 2006, so at least eight years old, although the look is very much a midcentury modernist one from the outside. That carries on to some extent on the inside, although we’re talking modern family home in the main.
Glen Bracken (that’s the official name) offers a good amount of space, enhanced by some high ceilings and extensive glazing that give the impression of more. Good space outside too, covering around half an acre.
Head into the plot via electric gates, passing the parking space and the triple garage and you’ll find have access to the ground floor, which offers an entrance hall, breakfast kitchen, bedroom with en-suite bathroom, sitting room, family bathroom, separate WC, cloaks and utility. An open plan dining area leads to a raised living room via a half flight of stairs, with a ‘sweeping’ balcony overlooking the south facing gardens.
The lower ground floor includes two rooms, currently used as a study and family room but originally designed as double bedrooms. A French door opens onto one of the block paved terraces. Stairs off the entrance hall lead to the first floor where there are four large double bedrooms, a family bathroom and a bathroom with shower.
Outside there are two large block paved areas and the lawn, which is surrounded by flower beds and mature trees. The lower part of the garden opens up into a play area of swings, slide and trampoline. Ideal if you have kids, not so much if you don’t we’d guess.
If you like the look of the place, Glen Bracken has an asking price of £795,000.
