On the market: Tillingbourne House 1970s modernist property in Dorking, Surrey
If the architecture doesn’t grab you, then the scenery around Tillingbourne House in Dorking, Surrey just might.
Big thanks to Helen for spotting this one, which was actually briefly up for sale at the end of last year (for the first time ever) and is back on the market now for even more money. The images on the two listings don’t show a great deal of difference, but neither listing really has a lot of interior shots.
What we do know is that this place dates back to the early 1970s and judging by the images we can see, much remains the same in general terms, with the agent pointing to an ‘opportunity to modernise’. However, a modern kitchen does indicate that it is probably a house you could still move into regardless of any work.
The images hint at large open plan spaces, something backed up by the agent’s description. Space is listed as five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a dressing room, reception hall, kitchen / family room, study, a large utility / boot room, an ‘exceptional’ open plan drawing room and living room and a second kitchen. Note that wonderful circular staircase too.
There’s also a double garage, boiler room, large storage rooms and your own heated swimming pool. That’s all before we get the magnificent landscaped gardens, covering around 1.5 acres and including what looks like a rather picturesque lake.
£1,450,000 is the new asking price for this place.
