On the market: Ian McChesney-designed The Tree House modernist property in London SE26
A house with real impact both inside and out, that’s The Tree House in London SE26.
The house was designed by Ian McChesney and completed just this year. It’s a stunning place, not least from the outside with an exterior clad in opaque black glass that reflects the nature and the sky around it. Not something you see every day.
A wide gravel path takes you to steel and iroko steps, leading a raised front door that opens into an entrance hall. That in turn leads to the main living room with high ceilings and full-height windows on three sides (so plenty of light), along with a wood-burning stove that’s the focal point of the room. Double sliding doors open up the kitchen, with a dining area opening onto the large terrace and accompanying pond.
Head up the zig-zag oak staircase and you’ll find the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, along with three further double bedrooms and a family bathroom. There is underfloor heating throughout, plenty of storage, a secondary entrance to the house and secure off-street parking, not to mention a landscaped garden.
The images do it more justice than the words. A good number featured here, but many more on the agent’s listing too. If you want to move in, the price is £1,750,000.
