Yes, we did feature another house by the same designer in a similar location recently, but we think The Moorings John Pardey-designed modernist property in Wargrave, near Reading, Berkshire is just as stunning. If not more so.
John Pardey designed this place back k in 2008, picking up a RIBA Best Contemporary UK House award for it not long after. You’ll find it in a ‘very private position’ on the banks of the River Loddon (not far from the River Thames) and built on steel stilts to take maximum advantage of the surrounding views.
As for the house, that’s very much what you would expect from a high-end built of recent times, with open plan living and extensive glazing being the order of the day.
There is an open plan kitchen / dining and sitting area with screened study, all with sliding ‘Schuco’ windows allowing the area to be open to the river. The master and guest suites have feature floor to ceiling sliding windows with views over the river and the kitchen, like the rest of the house, is packed with state of the art equipment. Four bedrooms in total, along with an equal number of bathrooms.
£2,500,000 is the guide price, which probably puts it well out of the reach of you or I.
