Holiday let: Two-bedroom apartment in the 1930s art deco Manor Road Garage in East Preston, West Sussex
We have followed the progress of the renovation of the Manor Road Garage from its semi-derelict state through to its renovation as living accommodation. Now we’ve spotted a two-bedroom apartment in the 1930s art deco Manor Road Garage in East Preston, West Sussex as a holiday let – so you can check it out for yourself.
As we have mentioned before, the Manor Road Garage and its four petrol pumps picked up grade II listing status back in 2007, but the art deco building actually dates from around 1934, operating as a working garage until 1973.
Now it has been converted to apartments, possibly a wise move as the building is just a 10-minute stroll from the beach, which is perhaps why this one is being used as a holiday home. It’s also within striking distance of Chichester, Goodwood Races, Arundel Castle and Brighton too.
If you want to use this place as base, it has plenty of amenities, with a ground floor of living room and dining room/kitchen, with partially open-tread stairs to first floor leading to two bedrooms one double with en-suite and one twin with en-suite shower room and toilet). There’s also the likes of Freeview TV, DVD, CD, all the kitchen appliances you would expect, Wi-Fi, car space and communal gardens.
The finish isn’t really ‘period’, but it’s certainly clean and modern. Charges for renting vary according to when you want to go, but for two nights at the start of June (for example), you are looking at £313.
