On the market: 1960s Manfred Bresgen-designed modernist property in The Ferrings, Dulwich, London SE21
Thanks to Ian McInnes for flagging up something of a companion piece to a house we featured recently. Although this 1960s Manfred Bresgen-designed modernist property in The Ferrings, Dulwich, London SE21 comes in at a much heftier price.
This house was the work of Manfred Bresgen of the same Austin Vernon & Partners that was behind that other Dulwich property, both of which date from around the same time. The ’60s-style modernism is evident in both, but the two designs are very different.
This one is a single-storey property and one that almost certainly needs some updating. Let’s just say this is styled ‘of an era’ and not really the era that the house dates from. Except perhaps for the odd room. The kitchen, for example, has a hint of the original design, but is an exception rather than the rule.
The property, which sits on a ‘most desirable residential road’ and on a quiet cul-de-sac offers up a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, three further bedrooms, a study, large open-plan lounge/dining room, kitchen/breakfast room and a second bathroom.
Externally there is a front garden and drive giving access to a double garage. To the rear there is a secluded garden which backs directly onto playing fields. There is also a private courtyard accessed from the kitchen.
The postcode and the space combine to bump up the price, which is £1,150,000. Add in that renovation and that’s a serious amount of cash for anyone.
