It actually dates back to 1892, when it was built as a home for a wealthy businessman (a famous gunmaker), but the ‘look’ now dates back to the ’40s, which is where the deco-style exterior perhaps comes from.

Not that this is a deco place inside. The interior goes for more of that original Victorian in tone, but on the plus side, has recently been updated with a new boiler, electrics and central heating. Ty’r Graig Castle (that’s the official name) is perhaps in need of a new look inside though, certainly if you want to attract a younger crowd.

Right now, it’s a four-star place, with a patio area, car parking and private wooded area outside, not to mention a cliff-top location. Enter the ground floor and you’ll find sizeable wooden doors, carved wood panelling, stained glass window and a tiled floor and fireplace with wood burning stove.

There’s also a lounge with moulded plasterwork ceilings, large Victorian fireplace and sea views, a conservatory with more of those views, a restaurant with approximately 24 covers, a commercial kitchen, a laundry room, office, storage room with chest freezers, wine cellar with wrought iron gate and wooden racking, along with owners’ accommodation and staff quarters incorporating three bedrooms, lounge and bathroom.

Head up the first floor for a twin bedroom with sea view and en-suite facilities, two double bedrooms with sea view and en-suite facilities, two turret rooms with sea view and en-suite facilities and a large double bedroom with mountain views and en-suite facilities.

A second floor has a large double bedroom with mountain views and en-suite facilities, a ‘premium’ turret room, a single and double room, a four-poster turret bedroom and a further bedroom, all with en-suite facilities.

More details on the listing. If you fancy it, the asking price is £770,000.
