How do you fancy living out your Elvis fantasy? Well, if you have the cash, the Elvis Presley midcentury honeymoon retreat in Palm Springs, California, USA has just had a price drop.
The Elvis connection is essentially the selling point for many – and perhaps why the price started off so high. In fact it still is, onky a lot less. Both the agent and the seller are obviously very keen to push the Elvis connection. In fact, looking at some of the shots, it’s literally a shrine to the man and his time here with Priscilla. But let’s be honest, that’s not really surprising. Elvis, even years after his death, is still a commercial giant.
That emphasis perhaps takes away from the actual house, which is a rather bold piece of architecture. It was described as ‘The House Of Tomorrow’ back in the day by Look Magazine for that very reason. According to the agent, the house was designed by William Krisel and designs for Robert Alexander of the Alexander Construction Company in four perfect circles and on three different levels, mixing glass and ‘peanut brittle stonework’ for some very hip indoor-outdoor living.
Space inside includes four bedrooms and five bathrooms, with the overall theme being very faithful to the original era. Some updating, but a strong element of the 1960s is still present in this place. Outside you have your own secluded grounds, which includes a pool, a stage, a private garden area, tennis court and a fruit orchard.
All of that nestled at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains, with ‘the honeymoon suite’ offering a panoramic view of the Santa Rosa Mountains & the Coachella Valley.
Elvis lived here from 1966 into 1967, hanging out here after his marriage to Priscilla Presley. So not exactly a long stay, but as we said, anything connected to Elvis is big business. Especially a former living space.
If you want to be Elvis for the foreseeable future, the asking price was $9,500,000, but has now been reduced to $4,995,000. Ok, that’s still not cheap, even when we convert it to the UK price of £3,518,671. But it is now half price and if you are an Elvis devotee with a love of MCM and cash to spare, it could be a dream opportunity.
