It’s quite a sight from the outside. But you might be disappointed once inside this 1930s art deco property in Kettering, Northamptonshire if you want the era.
But as we said, it’s an interesting place architecturally. This is one of a group of houses dating back to the mid-1930s, the work of a forward thinking developer back in the day and still a striking art deco property today.
It isn’t without original features, but the decor / finish might be overpowering them a little right now. But if you look closely, you might well spot the original mahogany flooring in the living room, hallway and dining room, an original hand built timber kitchen, Crittall windows to the main feature areas and the original sunken bath tub, as well as panelled ceilings throughout and refurbished column radiators.
All of that might be more obvious if the interior was a little more toned down, but as we have said in the past, there’s no reason why you can’t redecorate if it’s not to your taste.
As for space, you enter via the hallway, which access the living room with curved front window, the kitchen with those original cupboards, the dining room overlooking the front garden and a rear door to the back garden accessing a separate storage area.
On the first floor are three double bedrooms, the master with a curved feature window and art deco fireplace in situ and a second bedroom with a door to the front balcony area. Also on this floor is a shower room, the family bathroom with period bath and a separate WC.
Outside is a front garden mainly laid to lawn and a rear garden, also with lawn and with a gate leading to two garages and off road parking.£349,950 is the asking price.
