This apartment in Cromwell Tower on the Barbican Estate, London EC2 really does offer quite a vantage point over the city.
Cromwell Tower was completed in 1973 to a design by Chamberlin, Powell & Bon. A bold brutalist tower, it is 43 storey high, with 38 levels of flats and two of penthouses. Over those floors are 108 flats and three penthouse maisonettes, with this apartment high up on the 38th floor.
Hopefully the images give an idea of just how dramatic the view is when you are so high in the sky. If you have a fear of heights, this really is not the place for you. If not, read on.
Specifically this is an east-facing apartment with 180-degree views from the private balcony / terrace, looking out onto the City of London, with landmarks such as The Shard, The Gherkin, Heron Tower, Walkie Talkie, Cheesegrater, and beyond, as well as Canary Wharf greeting you each morning.
So that’s the drama sorted. What about the living space? Well, this apartment offers three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with floor to ceiling windows to boosts the light and access more of the views. Pretty much original condition too.
The master bedroom has a walk in wardrobe and all of the bedrooms have a door direct to the balcony. The original 1960s Brooke Marine kitchen is still in place, as is the original bathroom and shower room, described as being ‘in superb condition’. Completing the layout is the main reception space, a utility and a breakfast area / room.
As well as the grade II-listed architecture, you also get access to a 24-hour porter, as well as parking space, which is I think is located below the tower. Obviously there is a service charge as a result, which isn’t mentioned but is one to check.
As ever, space, location and the fact that this is on the Barbican means a high price to pay. This is up for £2,000,000.
