From what I can gather from translated articles, Pierre Lajus was an architect inspired by the likes of Richard Neutra and Frank Lloyd Wright, but working with the knowledge that he couldn’t design and build houses for the same money as the American elite would pay.

With that in mind, he built houses on the large plots available after the second world war, with designs that followed those modernist principles. But significantly, they would sell at a more affordable price. From what one article indicates, costs were kept down by using the same modular fittings for different houses.

The house here seems to be one of those properties. It looks hardly changed since the 1960s (which is the era I am guessing it is from), offering a lot of space and light over the single level and with some interesting architectural features. The listing for example, mentions plate glass windows to magnify light and moveable panels for flexible room space. Nice.

It also lists four bedrooms and two bathrooms in the floor space of 137 sq. metres, along with a plot size of 998 sq. metres. If you want to know more, check out the rest of the images on the listing or contact the agent.

These days that affordable living concept is a little pricier, no doubt because of the desirable location. £420,937 to be precise.
